About the Opportunity

We're working on behalf of a well-established and growing building services company that is looking to recruit an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer to join its expanding team.

This is a predominantly service and maintenance role working across a varied portfolio of commercial properties. Engineers are trusted to manage their own workload while delivering a high standard of workmanship and excellent customer service.

The business aims to keep travel sensible, with the majority of work located across Central London, the surrounding Home Counties and Kent. Most journeys are within 1 to 1.5 hours from home, with only occasional projects requiring overnight stays.

The Role

As an Air Conditioning Engineer, you'll be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and fault finding on a range of commercial air conditioning systems, with some refrigeration work where required.

You'll be working across a variety of commercial environments including:

Universities

Office buildings

Schools

Hospitals

Commercial facilities

Responsibilities

* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on commercial air conditioning equipment.

* Diagnose faults and complete reactive repairs.

* Service and maintain a variety of air conditioning systems.

* Complete minor refrigeration maintenance when required.

* Produce accurate job reports and communicate effectively with customers.

* Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.

* Represent the business professionally while on client sites.

Requirements

To be considered, you'll ideally have:

* City & Guilds Level 2 (or equivalent) in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (minimum requirement)

* Valid F-Gas Certification

* Proven experience carrying out commercial service and maintenance works

* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities

* Full UK Driving Licence

* A stable employment history demonstrating reliability and commitment

* Excellent communication and customer-facing skills

Working Hours

You'll work a 9-hour day, with start and finish times varying depending on customer requirements and site access. Early starts are common, allowing for earlier finishes where applicable.

Salary & Benefits

 * £44,000 - £50,000 depending on experience

* Company vehicle

* Door-to-door travel paid

* Typical additional earnings of £5,000 - £10,000 per year through travel payments

* Overtime available

* Weekend overtime paid at Time & a Half up to Double Time

* Rare call-out rota (approximately 1 week in every 6-7)

 * £125 standby payment for each call-out week

* Minimum 4-hour payment for any call-out attended

* 20 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays (additional holiday may be considered for the right candidate)
