Working Hours:

Summer: 08:00-17:00 | Winter: 08:00-18:00, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Domestic Gas & Technical Engineer to join a busy Housing Association team, delivering high-quality gas, heating and hot-water services across occupied homes, void properties and residential environments throughout London and the surrounding areas.
This is a varied field-based role combining responsive repairs, planned servicing, gas safety compliance, fault finding, installation and replacement work, alongside more complex technical diagnosis and support.

Key Responsibilities:

· Service, maintain, diagnose and repair domestic boilers, water heaters, heating systems and associated plumbing components.

· Work on combi, system and heat-only boilers, cylinders, pumps, valves, radiators, controls, expansion vessels and pipework, including vented and unvented hot-water systems within competence.

· Carry out responsive breakdowns, planned servicing, preventative maintenance, installations, replacements, upgrades, commissioning and recommissioning.

· Complete CP12/Landlord Gas Safety Records and required gas-safety checks within qualification and registration scope.

· Take ownership of complex, repeat and intermittent heating and hot-water faults, using structured, evidence-led diagnostics and identifying root causes.

· Diagnose across the complete heating system, including boilers, controls, wiring, pumps, valves, cylinders, sensors, thermostats, expansion, circulation and system condition.

· Interpret fault codes, technical literature, wiring diagrams and system schematics, using appropriate diagnostic and test equipment.

· Diagnose heating controls and electrical components within competence, recognising limitations and escalating specialist electrical work when required.

· Carry out gas-safety, combustion, pressure, flue, ventilation and soundness checks, identify unsafe conditions and apply relevant safety procedures.

· Stop work and escalate immediately where there is serious gas, carbon monoxide, flue, ventilation, electrical or competency-related safety risks.

· Complete technical inspections, root-cause reviews, quality investigations and technical audits, identifying recurring faults, trends and training needs.

· Maintain accurate, factual and audit-ready records, including readings, photographs, fault codes, tests, diagnosis, parts used, work completed and follow-on recommendations.

· Provide clear technical scopes, quotations, handovers and evidence for further works, approvals, warranty claims and escalations.

· Communicate professionally with residents, treating people, homes and belongings with respect while maintaining high standards of housekeeping.

· Demonstrate safeguarding awareness and report welfare, safeguarding or unsafe-living-condition concerns through appropriate channels.

· Participate in out-of-hours callouts and respond effectively to heating, hot-water and gas-safety emergencies.

· Prioritise safety, vulnerable residents, risk containment and service restoration, making systems safe and completing repairs where reasonably achievable and authorised.

· Provide clear technical handovers where repairs cannot be completed, including temporary measures, parts, risks and required follow-on works.

Essential Requirements:

· Current Gas Safe registration through the employing business and in-date domestic ACS qualifications appropriate to the work undertaken, including CCN1 and CENWAT, with HTR1, CKR1 and MET1 as applicable.

· Proven experience servicing, maintaining, fault-finding and repairing domestic boilers and heating systems.

· Strong practical experience with combi, system and heat-only boilers.

· Good knowledge of heating controls, S-plan/Y-plan systems, pumps, motorised valves, cylinders, expansion, circulation…
