Job Title - Labourer Job PurposeWe are looking for a reliable and hardworking Labourer to join our wastewater operations team. The successful candidate will assist with the removal of interceptor traps and the installation of straight pipe replacements within the wastewater network. This role involves working in confined spaces and on public highways and private properties, supporting the team to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the removal of interceptor traps and the installation of straight pipe replacements.
- Support the Ganger in carrying out wastewater and drainage works.
- Assist with excavation, lifting, handling materials, and general site duties.
- Work safely within confined spaces, following all relevant procedures and safety requirements.
- Help set up and maintain safe working areas, including site barriers, signage, and traffic management where required.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures, client requirements, and health and safety legislation.
- Use electronic devices to complete job records and upload site photographs.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in a clean and serviceable condition.
- Keep work areas tidy and ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Report any hazards, defects, or incidents to the site supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and maintain a professional attitude on site.
- Confined Space Certification.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Good verbal and written English communication skills.
- Competent in using smartphones, tablets, and electronic job management systems.
- Ability to accurately complete digital job records and upload photographs.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Understanding of safe working practices within the utilities or construction industry.
- First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid qualification.
- Previous experience working within the wastewater, drainage, utilities, or civil engineering sectors.
- Abrasive wheels certificate
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Health and safety conscious with excellent attention to detail.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional overtime where required.
- Positive attitude and willingness to undertake training and develop new skills.
