We're working with an established and growing Fire & Security systems integrator looking to add an experienced Small Works Engineer to its team covering London and the Home Counties. The role focuses on the installation, commissioning, modification and upgrade of Fire & Security systems across commercial and industrial environments.
This would particularly suit an engineer who enjoys the technical variety of small works and commissioning, rather than being tied solely to large installation projects or routine service work.
You’ll take responsibility for smaller projects, system upgrades, modifications and remedial works from installation through to commissioning and handover.
Key responsibilities include:- Installing, modifying and extending Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control and Intruder systems.
- Carrying out system additions, upgrades, relocations and remedial works.
- Configuring, testing and commissioning Fire & Security systems.
- Fault-finding, system verification and resolving technical issues.
- Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Completing commissioning and handover documentation.
- Liaising directly with clients, Project Managers and other trades throughout delivery.
- Ensuring work meets relevant regulations, client specifications and standards including BS 5839 and BS 7671.
You’ll already have hands‑on experience installing and commissioning Fire and/or Security systems, with good technical and fault‑finding ability.
Experience across a combination of Fire Alarms, CCTV, Intruder and Access Control is particularly relevant, alongside a full UK driving licence.
FIA, ECS/CSCS, IPAF or manufacturer certifications would be advantageous, as would experience with integrated systems and networking.
You’ll also need to be comfortable working independently, dealing directly with customers and taking ownership of your work through to completion.
What's On OfferCirca £45,000 basic salary, with flexibility depending on experience, plus:
- Annual company profit-share opportunity
- Company car with private use
- Fuel card
- 25 days' annual leave
