Role Description

The Lead Solar Installer is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater London. This role oversees the installation of commercial and residential solar PV systems, including planning daily work schedules, assigning tasks to installation teams, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting technical drawings, preparing and organizing materials, installing mounting structures and panels, routing cabling, and coordinating with electricians and project managers.

The Lead Solar Installer is expected to conduct on-site inspections, troubleshoot installation issues, complete installation documentation, and communicate clearly with clients and internal stakeholders. This role also involves mentoring junior installers, maintaining tools and equipment, and supporting continuous improvements in installation processes.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong technical knowledge of Solar Power and Solar Systems
    , with experience installing and commissioning solar PV projects.
  • Candidates should possess practical proficiency with Power Tools and Hand Tools
    , and be able to use them safely and efficiently on rooftops and other installation sites.
  • Candidates should possess a solid understanding of the Solar Industry
    , including basic regulations, health and safety requirements, and standard installation practices.
  • Relevant experience leading solar installation teams or supervising field crews, ideally in commercial and residential settings.
  • Ability to work safely at height, with strong awareness of risk assessment and adherence to H&S procedures.
  • Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to read technical drawings and manufacturer specifications.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to train and guide junior installers.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to sites within Greater London and nearby regions.
  • Relevant vocational qualification or certification in electrical, renewable energy, or construction disciplines is beneficial.
