An excellent opportunity has arisen to join Viasat’s Building services team, London, becoming an integral part of supporting the needs of a global satellite company. You will be customer focused and able to provide a first class service in this diverse and exciting role. You will provide mechanical engineering support/knowledge, complete preventative maintenance to deadlines, maintain paperwork supporting PPM activities and be involved in the management of contractors.

You will also be required to respond to reactive and emergency faults and conduct reactive maintenance work to ensure compliance SLA’s, complete daily plant/building inspections and provide operational support to the business via helpdesk requests

We are looking for a muti-skilled and reliable Mechanical/Air Conditioning Technician to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of air conditioning, refrigeration and air handling, and water systems, ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently and in accordance with required standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete site training and keep up to date with the latest operational procedures
• An understanding of planned preventive maintenance for the building
• Carry out any routine maintenance on equipment to include fault finding, problem solving and repairs to minimise down time.
• Full, accurate and timely completion of all maintenance logs, schedules, etc. to comply with Health and Safety legislation, company, insurance and ISO requirements, etc.
• Engage with external vendors as required and accompany/assist them while on site.
• Ensure there are adequate supplies of spares on site for commonly used and critical spare parts and log these in a stock sheet
• Maintain a service record of all planned maintenance work undertaken.
• Complete assigned building maintenance and helpdesk tasks whilst actively interacting with end users, and the building services manager within the required SLA.
• Carry out daily building checks, ensuring a proactive approach to the up keep of the building. Inspecting all facilities to ensure good working order and state of repair.
• Health & safety checks where necessary. Report problems and/or unsafe practices to building services manager (BSM) and where necessary completed health and safety paperwork, together with any recommendations for improvements.
• Participation in a 24/7 on call rota will be required (on-call rates apply)
• Carry out all repairs in relation to building and utilities, planned and executed in such a way so as to minimise risk or inconvenience to others.
• Follow up on action points agreed on by BSM and maintain a log, such as daily checks
• Minor troubleshooting & maintenance for office equipment if required.
• Review processes, procedures, systems, paperwork, etc. in own area, and make suggestions for improvement.
• Communicate process changes to relevant parties in order that relevant follow up may be carried out, e.g. training.
• Ensure full and timely reporting of all major breakdowns, significant problems, repair requirements, delays or machine down time to relevant personnel (BSM/FM).
