JOB DETAILS
2nd shift 3:30 pm to 2:00 am Monday to Thursday
Pay starting at $19.50 per hour + 1.00 Shift differential
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Harvey the Glass Cutting Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining glass cutting machinery to produce glass components according to specifications. This role requires mechanical aptitude, precision, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Set up and operate glass cutting machines, CNC cutters, or manual cutting equipment.
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and measurement specifications.
- Measure, mark, and align glass sheets to ensure accurate cuts.
- Monitor machine performance and adjust settings to maintain precision.
- Inspect cut glass for defects, accuracy, and quality compliance.
- Handle and move glass safely using appropriate tools and lifting equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on machinery.
- Record production data, material usage, and job completion details.
- Follow proper procedures for waste disposal and material handling.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including PPE requirements and safe glass-handling practices.
- Report equipment malfunctions, hazards, or quality issues to supervisors.
- Additional overtime as required with notice, typically limited to Monday-Friday

Qualifications and Skills:
- Being able to work as needed in a group and individual setting
- Ability to visually inspect parts and distinguish between conforming and nonconforming parts per guidelines
- Ability to make decisions by self and support with documentation
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with team members, departments, and vendors
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage stressful situations
- Able to prioritize tasks in an efficient manner in order to meet deadlines
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations as necessary
- Strong commitment toward quality, safety, and continuous improvement

Education & Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- 2 – 5 years Quality/MFG experience in a non-electronics/non-food setting
- Experience using Measuring Equipment (Tape Measure and Calipers required)
- Basic knowledge in use of inspection equipment and reading technical drawings
- Basic knowledge of quality systems and tolerances (+/-, passible defects, etc)
- Strong aptitude in process improvement and problem solving
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English at an intermediate level
