Nurse Resident – Registered Nurse I
$33.74/hour – $51.02/hour, plus Direct Care Pay of $10 per week and applicable shift differentials.
Shifts- 1st Shift: 5 × 8‑hour shifts (6:45 am – 3:15 pm) OR 3 × 12‑hour shifts (6:45 am – 7:15 pm)
- 2nd Shift: 5 × 8‑hour shifts (2:45 pm – 11:15 pm) OR 3 × 12‑hour shifts (10:45 am – 11:15 pm)
- 3rd Shift: 5 × 8‑hour shifts (10:45 pm – 7:15 am) OR 3 × 12‑hour shifts (6:45 pm – 7:15 am)
The New Hampshire Hospital Nurse Residency Program offers a competency‑based, shared‑learning experience for new graduate nurses. The resident will transition into professional nursing practice within a specialized psychiatric nursing environment while balancing clinical experience, learning activities, and role‑supportive tasks.
Responsibilities- Functions as Nurse‑in‑Charge in the absence of the Nurse Specialist.
- Assigns shift nursing care based on patient needs and acuity.
- Provides direct nursing care using the Nursing Process for patient management.
- Collects patient data by interview and observation to support assessment.
- Completes nursing assessment and diagnoses on admission and as clinically indicated.
- Performs assessments prior to authorizing Seclusion/Restraint in emergencies.
- May perform venipuncture for laboratory testing.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to formulate individualized treatment plans.
- Identifies patient problems, sets goals, and plans nursing interventions.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of care plans and documents response for plan revision.
- Coordinates and supervises subordinates, ensuring safe and quality care.
- Administers medication and treatments according to Nursing Department Standards.
- Educates patients, families, and significant others about unit routines, interventions, and health‑care needs.
- Plans for discharge and documents involvement with the interdisciplinary team.
- Evaluates and collaborates with Nursing Managers to maintain a therapeutic milieu.
- Monitors medical problems, reports findings, and implements treatments as ordered.
- Participates in workflow and patient care improvement activities.
- Supervises mental health workers in Activities of Daily Living and milieu management.
- Engages in own skill development through coursework, seminars, and training programs.
- Education: Graduation from a recognized nursing program with courses and clinical experience in medical, surgical, obstetrics, pediatrics, and psychiatric nursing.
- Experience: Limited to that required for registration.
- License/Certification: Current license as a Temporary Nurse or a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire.
- Special Requirements: Ability to work additional hours to meet patient‑care needs as determined by the Nursing Department.
