Yard Jockey​/Dock Worker 2nd Shift

BSP Trans, Inc. has been providing the Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont areas with outstanding LTL transportation services since 1970. At BSP, our team operates a six-terminal network across our coverage area to ensure swift deliveries for customers.

• Safely handle and maneuver tractor/trailers and other large equipment to facilitate the loading and unloading operations in the yard.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of the yard and dock equipment.
• Properly use a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, or similar equipment to load and unload freight.
• Load freight to prevent damage and ensure safety during transit.
• Set up, break down, and hook trailers safely.
• Ensure all pup trailers have proper tilt bars before loading freight.
• Raise and lower landing gear.
• Monitor the yard for unsafe drivers and prevent non-employees from operating the equipment.
• Work under outdoor weather conditions.
• Perform all duties of a dockworker as requested.
• Communicate effectively with dock supervision, line haul drivers, and fleet services personnel on a continual basis.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Operational, safety, and other needs may require performing additional duties as assigned.

• Must hold a CDL and be registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Experience in the transportation industry is preferable to operate a forklift (7500 lb. vehicle).
• Must be able to push or pull a loaded pallet jack and/or hand truck with a minimum load of 70 lbs.
• Must be capable of dropping, hooking, and coupling trailers, which involves cranking landing gear and pulling a 5th wheel pin that takes approximately 65 lbs of pressure.
• Night/weekend shifts may be required.
• Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job.
• Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and will be subject to a criminal history background check.
