Instructional Series Faculty Appointment Focused in Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP

The CU College of Nursing is seeking a full-time (1.00 FTE) faculty member within the Instructional Faculty Series with expertise in teaching adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner and related content. This position may teach across programs and at multiple CU Nursing locations. Potential courses will include but are not limited to foundational and adult-gerontology acute care content. This is an open rank faculty position within the Instructional Faculty Series at the rank of Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Teaching Professor.

Faculty rank will depend on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and scholarship. The successful candidate must work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and community members from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Faculty are integral to providing a high-quality student experience. This position will interface directly with students. Along with other faculty who teach in the classroom, this role is responsible for providing an engaging experience by maintaining competency in the subject matter being taught, preparing teaching materials in alignment with current best practice guidelines, and serving as a role model to students for professionalism.

This position's primary work location is the Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, Colorado, and may also have teaching responsibilities as needed on the Legacy Campus, in Lone Tree, Colorado. Successful candidates will have recent experience teaching in the areas of focus listed above, a track record of excellence in academic teaching, and scholarship experience that supports the ability to teach across programs.

Responsibilities may include participation in the teaching, practice, and service mission of the College of Nursing and the University of Colorado. Demonstration of academic leadership, such as curricular/program development, is preferred. For APRN candidates, a portion of the position may be devoted to clinical practice, depending on the candidate's experience and expertise. While the primary focus for these positions resides in the teaching mission of the college, service and scholarship to the university and the college are expected of all faculty members.

A successful candidate will help foster a community of belonging and utilize a justice lens to effectively engage with all members of the CU Nursing community, specifically faculty, staff, students, and community partners with diverse identities. This position may involve didactic and clinical teaching responsibilities. Didactic courses are taught in the classroom, online, or in blended formats. Supervision of clinical courses includes clinical conferences using online conferencing, site visits, and close communication with clinical preceptors.

Minimum qualifications for appointment at the rank of Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Teaching Professor include a bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school/college, a master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, a record of demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, collegial collaboration, and commitment to a program of scholarship, eligibility to obtain an unencumbered nursing license in Colorado, and current certification for Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP).

Preferred qualifications include 2-4 years experience working as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, a current Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) designation, demonstrated success in teaching across nursing programs from undergraduate to DNP, and a collaborative record of teaching and scholarship.
