Position OverviewKiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) has an opening for a dynamic Environmental Specialist
. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines. It is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.
You will work with your environmental and design managers to review projects for high-level approval and permitting needs, and then dive deeper to advance projects through study, approval and permitting steps to ensure projects are planned, designed, and constructed in an environmentally appropriate way. You will use your education and experience to identify federal, state and municipal permitting requirements, communicate with the project team, and find a solution to difficult environmental challenges.
You will learn to determine permitting needs of some of the largest infrastructure projects in the nation and will work to complete these projects with a focus on building a more sustainable world.

This position is based out of our Lone Tree, CO office.
Responsibilities- Review projects and Task Order to identify key environmental concerns.
- Review project documents to identify and communicate environmental risks to the project team.
- Support initial desktop reviews and data collection exercise, under supervision.
- Support field studies, reporting and permitting tasks.
- Identify permit requirements of a project on a federal, state, and local level, and work in an electronic database to track these permits.
- Document all items necessary for compliance during construction.
- Review projects for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act of 1966, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, and Section 404/401 of the Clean Water Act, and Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act.
- Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training.
- Support supervisors in managing environmental subconsultant budget and schedules.
- Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings avoiding and minimizing adverse effects to the natural environment and local communities.
