Position Overview

Join our Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) District as we have an immediate opening for a dynamic Geotechnical Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in expanding our Geotechnical Design Group, specifically within the infrastructure sector. A strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team are considered critical to this position.

You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines.

District Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers seamlessly transitions solutions from design to construction through the collaborative efforts of Design Engineering, Design Management, Proposals, Estimating, and Integrated Project Controls. Our construction-focused engineering approach involves a multidisciplinary team that maximizes value for clients by improving schedules, controlling costs, and minimizing risk on infrastructure projects. This integrated strategy emphasizes collaboration and constructability throughout the project lifecycle, enabling us to identify and implement quality solutions with a strong safety focus.

Location

This position is based out of our Lone Tree, Colorado office and includes travel to project offices as needed. We prioritize work-life balance by offering a flexible work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Providing project support during the proposal/bid phase working with various team members to identify and evaluate innovative and cost-effective design solutions to geotechnical problems and challenges.
  • Working with the pursuit team during the proposal/bid phase to help identify key design risks and develop plans to mitigate risks.
  • Working on EPC/design-build projects to develop design recommendations, produce design deliverables, and potentially serve as geotechnical lead or project manager.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Geotechnical Engineering or closely related field, required.
  • 11+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience, 15+ preferred.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the U.S., required.
  • Demonstrated broad technical knowledge of geotechnical engineering, including design of deep foundations, shallow foundations, evaluating slope stability, seismic engineering, retaining wall design, earth retention, rock mechanics, settlement of compressible soils, ground improvement techniques, support of excavation, and dewatering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated focus on interdisciplinary design coordination, coordination between Engineering and Construction, experience working in a team setting, and directing/reviewing the work of others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills resulting in exceptional rapport with people.
  • Proven success in initiating, promoting, and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships amongst a team.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and physically access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environmental conditions.
  • EPC or Design-Build experience, preferred.
  • Experience working with AI agents and tools preferred.

Base Compensation: $130,000/yr - $160,000/yr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
