Position Overview

Senior Mechanical Engineer supporting greenfield and brownfield power plant design, performing detailed design of balance‑of‑plant systems and piping for large utility‑scale power plants.

This position can be based in Lenexa, KS;
Lone Tree, CO;
New York City, NY; or Woodcliff Lake, NJ.

Responsibilities
  • Perform high‑complexity engineering designs including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selection for EPC projects (from conceptual design through detailed design).
  • Develop mechanical piping and instrument diagrams (P&) for power plant systems including steam cycles, boiler feed, condensate, water treatment, flue gas, hydrogen, fuel handling, heat transfer systems, and utility systems.
  • Prepare sizing calculations and specifications for major equipment including boilers, condensers, cooling towers, tanks, blowers, and pumps.
  • Prepare mechanical engineering designs, drawings, As‑Builts, system specifications, equipment lists, general arrangements, auxiliary power demands, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and procurement packages for equipment/components, technical bid evaluation from vendors, and vendor selection.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, industry codes and standards to projects.
  • Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements and company standards.
  • Prepare requisite mechanical documentation for construction.
  • Assist in the development of schedules, work assignments, and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion.
  • Coordinate with other drafters, designers, and engineers and review progress and results.
  • Provide technical mentoring and/or oversight to more junior engineers.
  • Balance multiple engineering tasks concurrently.
  • Able to lead design projects or portions of design projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related ABET‑accredited program) required.
  • At least 8 years of mechanical engineering design experience in power generation applications, including the delivery of the above responsibilities.
  • Current PE license or in process of completing the PE licensing process.
  • Highly motivated with a passion for excellence and initiative; experience leading others and projects.

Compensation

Base Salary: $152,000–$159,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on education, experience, skill set, and location.
