Transmission Engineer Lead - Kiewit Power Delivery Engineering

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Overhead Transmission Team Lead to guide a growing group of engineers and designers supporting transmission line projects from 12 kV to 500 kV. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical leadership and hands on engineering, with opportunities to influence project strategy, mentor staff, and drive high quality design execution. As the Transmission Team Lead, you will oversee the full lifecycle of overhead transmission projects—ranging from early conceptual development through detailed design and construction support.
You'll coordinate multidisciplinary efforts, ensure technical accuracy, and help deliver safe, reliable, and constructible solutions for utility and EPC clients across the country.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of transmission engineers and designers working on overhead line projects.
- Oversee development of conceptual designs, routing evaluations, structure type selection, and cost/constructability assessments.
- Review and approve detailed design deliverables, including: plan & profile drawings, structure loading and design packages, conductor and hardware specifications, foundation load requirements, bills of material and construction work packages.
- Utilize industry standard tools such as PLS CADD, PLS Pole/Tower, and SAG
10 to guide and validate engineering work. - Coordinate schedules, workloads, and priorities to meet client and project requirements.
- Identify and mitigate technical and execution risks to support safe and efficient construction.
- Collaborate closely with civil, structural, environmental, and electrical teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Provide engineering support during procurement and construction, including responding to RFIs and resolving field issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.
- 8-10 years of overhead transmission line design for utility or EPC projects.
- Proficiency with PLS‑CADD and related transmission design software.
- Experience leading engineering teams or serving as a technical lead.
- Solid understanding of NESC, ASCE, and utility‑specific design standards.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate across disciplines.

Base Compensation: $138,000/yr - $145,000/yr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
