Position OverviewKiewit Infrastructure Engineers is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer responsible for technical engineering assignments in support of Kiewit Corporation’s business across the US and Canada. The primary duties include geotechnical engineering efforts in support of infrastructure transportation alternative delivery projects in the proposal stage or following award. A strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment are critical to this position.
The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will work with an interdisciplinary team that includes structural, roadway, drainage, and materials engineers as well as estimators, schedulers and other construction professionals to identify geotechnical engineering problems and develop appropriate solutions. The engineer will also oversee the production and/or review of engineering reports, geotechnical analyses, and direct the work of staff geotechnical engineers.

Kiewit’s construction-focused engineers work closely with estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and focused on safety.
LocationThis position is based at the Lone Tree, CO office and includes travel to project offices and work sites as business requires.
Responsibilities- Lead engineering assignments supporting Kiewit Corporation business.
- Participate in the bid phase development of innovative and cost-effective designs.
- Work within the pursuit team during the bid phase to identify key design risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Serve as Engineer‑of‑Record on design‑build projects, develop design recommendations and produce design deliverables.
- Support efforts to capture and disseminate design lessons learned across Districts.
- Train and develop junior engineers.
- Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent experience required.
- 15+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience on transportation infrastructure projects.
- Professional Engineer registration in the U.S. required.
- Strong comprehensive knowledge of geotechnical engineering and technical solutions to geotechnical issues.
- Alternative Delivery experience preferred.
- Experience with deep foundations, shallow foundations, slope stability, seismic engineering, retaining walls, earth and rock mechanics, settlement of compressible soils, ground improvement, and dewatering on transportation projects.
- Experience leading and reviewing the work of others in a team setting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Physical ability to access construction sites in diverse climates and conditions.
- Willingness to travel to project sites.
- Experience working with AI agents and tools preferred.
- Regular, reliable attendance.
- Work productively and meet deadlines.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
- Perform work safely and effectively; understand and follow oral and written instructions, warning signs, and equipment use policies.

Base Compensation: $150,000 – $210,000 / yr (subject to variation based on education, experience, skill set, and location).
