The Concrete Engineer is a team member of Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE). The primary role is to provide support to construction operations, perform analysis, and design for Kiewit projects, impacting other teams within the engineering district.

Project involvement can be at any stage of a project’s life cycle. In the Get Work phase, tasks include proposal development, Task Force participation, technical proposal design including alternative technical design concept (ATC), and proposal cost estimating support. In the Build Work phase, tasks include Task Force participation, development of final designs for concrete troubleshooting, project specifications, concrete mixes, testing procedures, thermal control plans, durability and service life engineering, construction engineering, and construction operations oversight.

Deliverables include technical solutions, design reports, memorandums, and letters, which are subject to KIE’s Design Quality Management Plan. Field technical support may be required during project construction.

Concrete Engineering is a specialty service with high visibility. Project travel is approximately 25% and may be anywhere in North America. Continued learning through Kiewit University, Professional Engineer education, and self‑development is encouraged and expected.

• Assist the Chief Concrete Engineer in providing and managing concrete technical solutions
• Support pre‑bid evaluation, design constructability reviews, technical risk assessments, and construction operations work planning (i.e., placing procedures, pumping, constructability reviews, mix design, value engineering, troubleshooting, proposal development, and training)
• Improve concrete quality and reduce issues through proactive engagement with sites
• Collaborate on developing concrete design requirements and specifications for construction
• Interpret concrete materials properties and construction quality results, including process control data
• Serve as field engineer during construction when appropriate
• Learn and apply client‑specific design methodologies, specifications, and standards
• Build and maintain client and construction partner relationships, including face‑to‑face meetings

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering;
  Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum 7 years of experience in concrete (mix designs, thermal control, service life, forensic analysis, troubleshooting, testing, codes, standards, ACI Manual of Concrete Practice, etc.)
• Active US PE required
• Ability to travel in North America (approx. 25%)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of concrete industry standards such as ASTM, ACI, and CSA
• Experience with industry‑specific software for concrete mixture proportioning, thermal modeling, and service life analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working with AI agents and tools preferred

Base Compensation: $113,000/yr – $125,000/yr (Actual compensation varies with education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
