Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensive provider of cancer care, is seeking an experienced Oncology Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary care team at the Skyridge location.
OverviewIn this role, you will support patients and families by conducting psychosocial assessments, delivering counseling, coordinating resources, and collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and support staff.
Your expertise will help enhance patient outcomes and ensure high‑quality, holistic cancer care.
Salary: $70,000–$85,000. Pay is based on factors such as education, experience, and certifications.

- Provide counseling and supportive services to patients requiring emotional and psychosocial assistance.
- Familiar with agencies and organizations offering emotional, physical, social, and financial services to patients and families.
- Adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, and Business Standards.
- Meet with patients and their families for psychosocial needs assessment and examine social support, appropriate community resources, and coping mechanisms.
- Document all communication accurately and appropriately.
- Provide psychological support to patients and families, including during hospitalizations.
- Provide ongoing follow‑up counseling and advocate within the healthcare system.
- Develop and maintain support groups to enhance the quality of care to patients and families.
- Provide information on local and distant resources, including for patients traveling for procedures or BMT.
- Facilitate team support of identified patient and family needs through ongoing communication with clinic team members.
- Educate patients and staff regarding mental health worker skills and knowledge in a medical practice.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with community agencies, health care organizations, and other providers.
- Coordinate support groups to prevent duplication of services and better address patient needs.
- Provide speaking services to groups and organizations to raise public understanding of cancer’s emotional component; facilitate employee support groups as needed.
- Apply age‑specific knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental differences across patient populations.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and may oversee staff providing social services coordination.
- When needed, complete patient disability forms, maintain indigent patient drug programs, and keep up to date on insurance reimbursement issues.
- Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE‑accredited program.
- Three‑ to five‑years’ preferred experience as a masters‑prepared social worker in a health‑care setting; oncology, palliative care, and/or hospice experience desired.
- Valid and current state master’s‑level license (e.g., LMSW) required.
- Knowledge of oncological diseases preferred.
- Knowledge of the psychosocial impact of cancer preferred.
- Knowledge of the health‑care setting preferred.
- Knowledge of community and governmental resources preferred.
- All qualified candidates must pass a background check and a non‑federal drug test (which excludes marijuana) after offer of employment and prior to hire.

Work EnvironmentWork requires exposure to communicable diseases, medical preparations, and conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic. Frequent interaction with patients, families, physicians, clinic staff, and external agencies is essential.
