As a Data Engineer III you'll design, develop, document, test, and debug new and existing cloud-based data pipelines and transformations. You will participate in design meetings and consult with business clients to develop processes and structures that ingest data from multiple sources into our cloud-based Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).
Within the EDW, you will use a variety of tools to implement and continuously improve data integration, master data management, data lifecycle management, data security, data quality management, metadata management, and reporting and analytics. Additionally, you will perform defect corrections (analysis, design, code). The Data Engineer III also identifies and creates data management practices and processes to be included in the technical architectural standard.
As SNC s corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with stakeholders, business systems analysts, and other project team members to understand their functional and non-functional data requirements and design data models that meet those needs.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, data lineage, and other metadata artifacts to ensure that data is well-governed, accurate and supports authoritative data sourcing.
- Document and model existing ETL processes to provide insight into current data integrations, areas of opportunity to consolidate or streamline, and/or removing redundancies.
- Support and help define the data strategy and cleansing activities for AI initiatives.
- Design, build, and maintain RPAs for data ingestion that are scalable and efficient to bolster accuracy in QA and system testing.
- Partner with program management office and business systems analysts to support the elicitation and cultivation of business needs to translate into detailed requirements documentation; focus will be on the data aspects of the needs to support successful delivery of projects including managing the transition to sustainment.
- Bachelor s Degree in a related field with at least 6 years of relevant experience
- Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL), and familiarity with a variety of databases
- Experience with AWS cloud services: S3, Redshift, Glue
- Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets
- Experience performing root cause analysis on data to answer specific business questions or issues
- Experience with object-oriented scripting languages and frameworks:
Python - Source system integration patterns (SQL, APIs)
- Operational responsibilities (schedules, monitoring, logging, alerting, error handling, etc.)
- Dev Ops experience
- Understanding of data modeling approaches and their applications
- Proficiency with SQL, Power Automate, IaC (Terraform), and Dev Ops
- Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets
- Ability to perform root cause analysis on data to answer specific business questions or issues
- Defining source system integration patterns
- Understanding of machine learning techniques, LLMs, and Azure Foundry
- Familiarity with Archi Mate modeling semantics
- Experience with Azure and AWS cloud services
- Strong knowledge of project planning/execution and solid understanding of analysis and software development lifecycle methodologies
- Knowledgeable on the technologies that support day-to-day business execution in addition to business application development, implementation, and sustainment
- Strong presentation, facilitation, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills
- Experience performing root cause analysis on data to answer specific business questions or issues
- Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, RDS, Lambda, Step Functions, Athena, Cloud Watch, ECS, IAM
- Experience with AWS security: best practices, AWS KMS, AWS Secrets Manager
- Experience with object-oriented scripting languages and frameworks:
Python (BOT
03), PySpark, Java, etc - Master Data Management (MDM) Solution experience
