Mandarin Speaking Registered Nurse
The Mandarin Speaking Registered Nurse facilitates communication between the patient with limited English proficiency and their healthcare providers. They clearly and accurately interprets/translates both oral and written communications throughout treatment in a culturally appropriate manner. They report to the Nurse Manager and should function in an independent manner. They take direction from the Nurse Manager, Medical Director, Assistant Nurse Manager and other physicians as it relates to specific patient care concerns.

Essential Functions
- Provide interpretation from and into English and the applicable non-English language using active listening skills with one on one communication, whether in person, on the telephone or through email.
- Responsible for the translation of written texts, and website content from English to non-English language.
- Possess knowledge of commonly used medical terminology and concepts related to infertility and treatments in each language, including the ability to interpret or explain technical terms.
- Provide accurate and concise oral translation or written translations for patient information, healthcare documents or patient instruction in coordination with the healthcare team.
- Provide social and cultural information to healthcare team that could influence or affect coordination of the patient's treatment plan.
- Possess the ability to stay focused and concentrated when listening so interpretation and translation of information is accurate.
- Be aware of subtle meanings in a given language and be able to communicate them in both languages.
- Possess skills and knowledge to quickly grasp the intention of a message in its original language and then re-express it accurately into the other language.
- Responsible to not alter information (add or subtract information) from what is communicated by patient or the healthcare team.
- Act as a liaison for the patient with the business office, as needed.
- Provide accurate and timely communication to the healthcare team regarding all patient interaction.
- Provide accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions in the EMR.
- Maintain professional standing by continued professional education and organizational memberships.
Position Qualifications
- Current Colorado Registered Nurse license. Current BLS certification.
- Associates degree from an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of work related experience required. Women's Health experience preferred.
- Must be fluent and bilingual in English and a non-English speaking language.
- Must be able to distinguish subtle nuances of meaning and idiomatic usage in both English and non-English language.
- Strong computer skills, ability to use basic office equipment.
- Strong ability to follow procedures and protocols is essential.
- Must be organized with a strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, have strong attention to detail, and a strong ability to utilize time efficiently.
- Must have a strong ability to act independently as well as be able to work effectively in a team.
- Must have excellent customer service skills, exhibiting courteous, compassionate, and respectful treatment of internal and external customers at all times.
- Must consistently display a positive attitude and flexibility in changing situations.
- Must have excellent communication skills and make it a priority to consistently communicate positively and professionally with all staff members, physicians and patients.
