- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly and courteously, assist with video game needs, inform guests about promotions and the trade-in program, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors during transactions, and thank guests for choosing Game Stop. Circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support the overall shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, and nurture guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately via the POS system, ensuring top-notch guest service.
- Address guest questions in person or on the phone; answer calls promptly, courteously, and professionally to ensure top-notch service.
- Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program and the Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Maintain a clean, organized store, including restrooms, and ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Complete Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Safeguard company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness and safety best practices.
- Conduct store inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise, and move products from the stock room to the selling floor to ensure representation and organization.
- Support store management in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative and operational duties.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily POS totals; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits following established guidelines.
- Check shipments for discrepancies; report discrepancies to the Store Manager as needed.
- Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists.
- Supervise and delegate tasks in the absence of management and adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures.
- Follow opening and closing procedures and provide timely feedback on associate performance.
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
- Must be able to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.
Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional guest service skills and genuine, friendly assistance.
- Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet performance expectations, including attendance and grooming.
- Operate the POS system and complete required paperwork; basic math and alphabetizing skills.
- Self-motivation and ability to work as a team; problem-solving and judgment abilities.
- Follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form; deliver bank deposits following loss prevention guidelines.
- Flexible schedule, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum of 3 days/week availability.
- Remain effective under pressure and handle stress appropriately.
- Physical requirements:
bend, stoop, reach, climb ladders, and lift up to 30 lbs; stand and move for up to 10 hours per day.
