Leader In Training (full-time)

Summary The Leader in Training (LIT) and Floor Leader position's primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: "To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests." The LIT and Floor Leader performs a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g. cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Works directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership.

Pay range: $16–$21 per hour. The range is the budgeted amount for this position; final offers are based on factors such as skill set, experience, and location. Sales positions receive a base rate plus commission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greet guests with friendly, engaging service and recommend products that meet their needs.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge, share sales education, and maintain current promotions and payment policies.
  • Achieve personal sales-per-hour and net sales goals set by Store Management.
  • Deliver exceptional service across front five, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area.
  • Handle exchanges and returns efficiently, using showmanship to turn transactions into experience.
  • Maintain or exceed performance standards in all Buckle builders, guest loyalty, fit appointments, credit card, and guest connect.
  • Utilize inventory, advanced product search, iPad apps, and other tools to expand guest selection.
  • Develop relationships with guests and maintain a client‑based business.
  • Lead by example, showing high showmanship, customer service, and attentiveness.
  • Recruit, train, and develop new teammates; meet Buckle accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention, and sales presentation standards.
  • Create positive floor culture; coach teammates and promote positive attitude.
  • Participate in daily setup, training, performance tracking, mid‑week check‑ins, and zone ownership.
  • Monitor visual merchandising through weekly check‑lists and zone work, ensuring compliance with visual standards and library.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including early/late hours, holidays, and during Thanksgiving/Christmas periods.
  • Follow opening and closing check‑lists, security guidelines, and loss prevention protocols.
  • Handle point‑of‑sale procedures, corporate calls, returns, exchanges, and payment policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, customer‑friendly store environment to support mission statement.
  • Apply Buckle Code of Ethics, policies, handbooks, and guidelines.
  • Communicate merchandising concerns, policy violations, and guest or teammate concerns to Store Manager, District Manager, or HR.
  • Support Leadership in promotional and event initiatives; complete special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain solicited professional conduct and relationship with teammates.
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months of related retail experience and/or training; or equivalent education and experience combined.
