Champion Health Plan is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing finance and accounting team. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations, account reconciliations, month-end close, accounts payable, and financial reporting support.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with details, solving problems, and building strong accounting processes. Healthcare experience is helpful, but not required. We are looking for someone with a solid accounting foundation who is eager to learn the healthcare industry and grow with the company.

Key Responsibilities
1. General Accounting & Reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support the general ledger
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts such as prepaid expenses, accruals, credit cards, fixed assets, accounts payable, and commissions
  • Review transactions for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification
  • Research and resolve account discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Maintain clear documentation and support for accounting entries, reconciliations, and account balances
  • Help ensure financial records are organized and audit-ready
2. Month-End Close & Reporting Support
  • Support key parts of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules
  • Review account activity and investigate unusual variances
  • Assist with financial reporting and internal analysis
  • Partner with the finance team to improve the accuracy and timeliness of close
  • Support audit requests, reporting schedules, and other finance-related projects as needed
  • Help identify opportunities to improve accounting processes as the company grows
  • Support accounts payable processes, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment support
  • Reconcile AP-related accounts and help resolve vendor or payment discrepancies
  • Assist with commission-related reconciliations and supporting schedules
  • Work with internal teams to validate information, resolve questions, and ensure transactions are recorded accurately
  • Help maintain organized vendor, payment, and reconciliation records
  • Participate in special projects that support finance operations, reporting, and process improvements
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2–5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience
  • Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts payable, or month-end close
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial data
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow issues through to resolution
  • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable working in a growing company where processes may continue to evolve
Preferred, But Not Required
  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry
  • Experience with accounting systems such as Quick Books, Net Suite, , Ramp, or similar tools
  • Familiarity with accrual accounting, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, or commission reconciliations
  • Interest in learning healthcare finance and health plan operations

The ideal candidate is someone who is detail-oriented, curious, and dependable. You do not need to know healthcare accounting on day one. We are looking for someone with good accounting fundamentals, strong follow-through, and a willingness to learn.

This person should be comfortable asking questions, investigating discrepancies, and helping build better processes as the company grows.
