As we continue to pursue new goals, it's an exciting time to join the Bragg team. We are currently hiring a Division Accounting Manager in our Long Beach, CA headquarters.
The Division Accounting Manager reports to the Division Controller and is a key member of the Finance organization, responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of the Division's accounting operations. This role provides both operational leadership and strategic financial support, overseeing critical accounting functions while partnering closely with business leaders to deliver timely financial insights that support sound decision-making.
Key responsibilities include leading the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy of job cost reporting and balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining a strong internal control environment, and supporting financial reporting across the Bragg Companies Division. The Division Accounting Manager also oversees the Accounts Payable function, leading a team of four professionals, managing vendor payment processes, partnering with operations to analyze vendor spend and job profitability, overseeing fixed asset accounting, and maintaining effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
As a trusted business partner, the Division Accounting Manager champions continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, strengthen financial controls, and increase operational efficiency. This role plays a critical part in the Company's ongoing finance transformation initiatives by promoting transparency, collaboration, accountability, and operational excellence while fostering a high-performing team committed to delivering exceptional financial support to the business.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Close & Reporting:
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting while driving accountability for close deadlines, supporting schedules, and deliverables. - Accounting Operations:
Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger and subledger management, journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. - Financial Analysis & Business Partnership:
Analyze financial results, investigate variances and trends, resolve accounting issues, and provide financial commentary and insights to support operational and executive decision-making. - Accounts Payable Leadership:
Manage, develop, and mentor the Accounts Payable team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, payments, employee reimbursements, ACH transactions, check runs, wires, and related accounting entries. - Process Improvement & Internal Controls:
Identify and implement accounting and procure-to-pay process improvements, leveraging automation and strengthening internal controls to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. - Vendor & Regulatory Compliance:
Maintain supplier relationships and records, oversee vendor onboarding and tax documentation, and ensure compliance with 1099 reporting and IRS requirements. - Operational & Project Accounting:
Support project and job costing, equipment profitability analysis, revenue recognition, and other operational accounting activities that drive business performance. - Fixed Assets, Leases & Debt Accounting:
Manage fixed assets, construction-in-process accounting, depreciation schedules, ASC 842 lease accounting, debt accounting, interest accruals, and related reconciliations. - Tax & Cross-Functional Support:
Prepare and support property tax filings, partner with Accounts Receivable and other departments, and provide backup support as needed to ensure effective financial operations.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. - Professional
Experience:
Experience working within the accounting department of a $400M+ revenue business, including oversight of accounting operations, financial reporting, and team leadership. - Industry
Experience:
Experience with fixed assets, equipment accounting, project costing, or related operational accounting. Experience in construction, equipment rental, distribution, or other asset-intensive industries preferred. - Leadership & Communication:
Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor accounting teams while demonstrating strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. - Financial Systems Expertise:
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and multi-dimensional reporting environments. Accounting system implementation experience…
