Senior Accountant

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background supporting organizations that perform work under U.S. federal government contracts. This role requires hands-on experience with government contractor accounting regulations and compliance, including FAR/DFARS, DCAA, and preferably CAS. Candidates should have experience working for a defense contractor, aerospace company, engineering firm, or government services organization that contracts directly with the federal government.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Ensure accounting practices comply with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requirements.
• Support DCAA compliance, including accounting system adequacy, labor/timekeeping compliance, and incurred cost submissions.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts while ensuring compliance with government contract accounting standards.
• Assist with government audits and provide supporting documentation for DCAA and other regulatory agencies.
• Work closely with finance and program teams to monitor contract costs, indirect rates, and project accounting.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports.
• Review cost allocations and indirect rate calculations.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
