Our Long Beach facility currently operates as a 79-bed adult voluntary acute inpatient program, offering private rooms and individualized treatment delivered by a multidisciplinary team. We are dedicated to best practices and person-centered care, supporting each patient's journey toward stability and recovery.

To promote continuity of care beyond inpatient treatment, we also offer Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs tailored to meet each individual's clinical needs. We are also actively expanding our services across Southern California, with our new San Bernardino campus expected to open in early 2026.

Per Diem

Schedule:

10-12 hour shifts every other weekend (20-24 hours/week)

Pay Range: $23-24.00/hour

Position Summary

Ocean View is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator to join our Scheduling team. The Daily Staffing Coordinator supports the organization's staffing operations by managing real-time schedule adjustments and ensuring appropriate coverage for clinical and support staff during assigned shifts. This role focuses on evening staffing needs, including call-off coverage, 1 :1 assignments, per diem coordination, and accurate documentation of staffing changes to support payroll and compliance requirements.

The position works closely with the Scheduling Manager and clinical leadership to maintain safe staffing levels in a 24/7 healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and update daily assignments and Distribute assignments via email to the relevant management and staff.
  • Update monthly schedules to staffanddiscuss any scheduling changes.
  • Consider unit acuity and identify suitable staffing based on unit needs.
  • Send notifications to canceled staff when their services are not required.
  • Appropriately updating the cancellation log, including relevant notes.
  • Respond to staff inquiries via email or text regarding staffing matters.
  • Collaborate with the intake team regarding new admissions or discharges to ensure appropriate staffing ratios.
  • Engage with floor staff to provide real-time activity updates.
  • Managing real-time scheduling adjustments as necessary.
  • Contact staff when additional clinical support is required.
  • Inquiring about staff availability for scheduling purposes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of summaries and reports for management review concerning attendance.
  • Adhering to the staffing grid and census ratios as mandated by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS).
  • Assigning one-on-one coverage and ensuring appropriate extra care coverage
  • Tracking attendance and notifying management of any relevant activity.
  • Assisting with orientations, including facility tours.
  • Emailing staff of upcoming schedule needs for week/month
  • Annotating schedules to reflect staff overtime to ensure equitable cancellations and distribution of hours.
  • Monitoring staffing meal premiums and ensuring fair rotation among staff.
  • Keeping management informed of any staffing issues that arise or providing updates on unit conditions.
  • Schedule training orientations with the relevant leads as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or hospital settings.
  • Ability to remain calm, composed, and effective in high-stress or crisis situations.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills across disciplines and departments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams) and/or cloud-based communication platforms (e.g., Slack, Zoom)
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, or other languages commonly spoken by the patient population
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Title 22, and other applicable regulatory standards
  • Current CPR, BLS, and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within
    90 daysof employment
  • $2.00/hour shift differential for eligible NOC (overnight) shifts

Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to operate standard office and/or clinical equipment requiring repetitive hand movements, manual dexterity, and fine finger coordination, including the use of computers, telephones, and related devices.
Special Conditions
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of Live Scan fingerprinting, background check clearance, and verification of required licenses, certifications, and education
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or variable shifts as needed, based on operational or patient care needs
