Job Summary

The Assistant Registrar, Graduation provides supervision of the Graduation unit and leadership for staff training on graduation-related policies and procedures as they pertain to undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students. This position is responsible for organizing, planning and directing the work of evaluators and serve as the staff resource specialist for communication of sensitive information to students with respect to graduation information. As the principal liaison with regard to curriculum and degree audit issues between the Office of Enrollment Services and Academic Affairs, ensure the accuracy and completeness of the Academic Requirements Report and Degree Planner.

Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train the Graduation staff. Plan, organize and manage the workflow of graduation processes including documenting policies and procedures. Provide subject matter expertise for the CSULB academic and advisement community for all issues relevant to the CSULB curriculum as implemented in the People Soft degree audit system, Degree Planner and other E-advising initiatives. Advise colleges and academic departments on issues relating to CSULB curriculum revisions, including changes made to academic majors and to General Education requirements.
  • Work with Registrar and Associate Registrar on issues pertaining to policy and procedures. Interpret CSULB policies and procedures affecting graduation to all campus constituencies. Recommend changes in policy and procedure in support of the University's mission and to improve service to students. Analyze and evaluate individual and group student situations to identify trends and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Conduct extensive testing and analysis of changes made to the People Soft degree audit system, Degree Planner and graduation-related components. Research and propose resolution for reported discrepancies/inaccuracies.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

  • Hiring Range:
    The hiring range for this position is $5,274 (Step #1) - $5,709 (Step #5) per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
  • CSU Classification Salary Range:
    The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,274 (Step #1) - $7,684 (Step #20) per month.
