Job Summary

This position leads the ongoing development, implementation, and maintenance of the CMS Financial Aid Module to support a comprehensive student aid delivery system that administers more than $450 million annually in financial aid to over 30,000 students. Responsibilities include researching, planning, and facilitating the implementation of federal, state, and institutional financial aid program requirements, as well as assisting in leading the Financial Aid Systems team.

The role also provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive, using a student‑centered and equity‑minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs the duties of Module Lead for the People Soft Student Administration Financial Aid Module.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for internal questions regarding systems processing and production issues.
  • Supervises, plans, and directs the work of the Assistant Module Lead and other financial aid systems staff.
  • Acts as a point of contact for cross‑module support and CMS (Chancellor’s Office Systems Team) support in coordination with other Module Lead(s).
Technical and Analytical Skills
  • Knowledge of online student information systems (People Soft preferred) and imaging systems.
  • Experience with standard financial aid processing systems, applications, and verification procedures.
  • Proficiency in PS Query Tool, SQL, and SQR preferred.
  • Subject‑matter expertise in financial aid administration and compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  • Ability to analyze user needs and translate them into detailed technical specifications.
  • Skill in designing, creating, implementing, and maintaining complex technical rules to support business processes.
  • Competence in analyzing data requirements, researching data availability, and determining access methods.
  • Capacity to coordinate workflow and carry out assignments without detailed instructions.
  • Strong analytical skills for issue resolution, project planning, and accurate internal and external reporting.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Adherence to all university policies, procedures, and guidelines, including safety, civility, information security, and non‑discrimination policies.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience.

Time Base

1.0 time‑base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

  • Hiring Range: $7,284 – $7,429 per month, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $7,284 – $10,611 per month.
