Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Appropriate Administrator and Lead, the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications supports the development, coordination, and delivery of sports information and media relations for the University’s athletic programs. The role includes assisting with the creation and distribution of communications, ensuring compliance with operational policies and procedures, and promoting the University’s athletic teams through media relations, digital content, and statistical reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Content & Media Relations Support – Assist in the creation and distribution of press releases, newsletters, game notes, recaps, and social media posts. Support social media operations by producing timely posts and monitoring account activity. Assist with website updates including posting news, schedules, and results.
- Event Assistance – Assist with game-day operations by preparing rosters, programs, and flip cards. Support in‑game operations by updating statistics and assisting in the press box. Provide in‑game social media updates, including highlights and scoring updates.
- Post‑Event Coverage – Assist with post‑game coverage by preparing box scores, updating websites, and distributing recaps. Support post‑game interviews and press conferences. Assist in producing video and photo highlights for post‑event distribution.
- Records and Archives – Collect, compile, and maintain statistical records for assigned sports. Maintain digital and physical archives of team records, photos, videos, and publications. Catalog and update record books and media files using digital archiving systems.

Duration of AppointmentThis is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

CompensationSalary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
- CSU Classification Salary Range:
The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,570 (Step
1) – $6,658 (Step 20) per month.
