- Assist with safety and health inspections and verify that corrective action has been taken regarding hazards.
- Assist in the investigation of all injuries and accidents to determine their cause and potential corrective action according to jurisdictional requirements.
- Review all accident investigations to determine corrective action and verify that corrective action has been taken according to jurisdictional requirements.
- Arrange all applicable management and supervisory training as required by the Accident Prevention Program.
- Maintain a company commitment to accident prevention by expecting safe conduct on the part of all managers, supervisors and employees.
- Assign responsibility to all levels of management, supervision and employees, and hold them accountable for accident prevention and safety.
- Consistently and fairly enforce all company safety rules, regulations and policies.
- Document daily safety walks.
- Liaise with colleagues and clients on the successful development of appropriate safety plans, hazard assessments, risk registries/critical risk protocols and audits.
- Determine compliance with legislation and relevant additional standards, policies and procedures.
- Recommend corrective measures and follow through on their implementation.
- Assist with new employee orientation training.
- Prepare and update the emergency response plan as necessary.
- Ensure records and postings required by OSHA/CALOSHA are kept up to date.
- Prepare weekly safety topics and ensure the weekly meetings are documented.
- Order safety equipment, safety supplies and first aid supply and distribute as needed.
- Act as a leader in company safety policy and set a good example for all supervisors and employees.
- Ensure that contractors and subcontractors remain in compliance by maintaining their safe work practices to comply with OSHA/CALOSHA and Onni requirements and standards.
- Coach and assist site personnel to achieve a safe workplace.
- Assist in the centralization of all site inspections, weekly reports, and OSHA/CALOSHA reports.
- Ensure all records are complete and in conformance with OSHA/CALOSHA requirements.
- Review critical hoisting and large equipment placement.
- Perform other duties as required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college with a major in occupational health and safety, preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Spanish is a plus).
- CPR and First Aid Certified, OSHA 30 preferred.
- Strong documentation capacity with the ability to meet stringent deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must be organized and have strong interpersonal skills.
$25–$28 per hour
