Brascia Builders, Inc. is seeking an experienced Estimator to support the company's preconstruction and estimating efforts across commercial, healthcare, institutional, and specialty construction projects. The Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, soliciting and analyzing subcontractor proposals, identifying scope gaps, and working collaboratively with operations and executive leadership throughout the pursuit and preconstruction process.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical estimating abilities with practical construction knowledge and understands how projects are actually built in the field.
Key Responsibilities- Estimating:
Prepare conceptual, schematic, design-development, and detailed construction estimates for commercial construction projects. - Quantity Takeoffs:
Perform comprehensive quantity takeoffs and scope analysis from plans, specifications, narratives, and other project documents. - Bid Management:
Develop bid packages, solicit subcontractor and supplier proposals, manage bidder participation, and ensure appropriate trade coverage. - Scope Review:
Review subcontractor proposals for completeness, exclusions, qualifications, scope gaps, and potential overlaps. - Bid Leveling:
Prepare detailed bid comparisons and evaluate subcontractor proposals to determine complete and competitive coverage. - Preconstruction:
Participate in preconstruction activities including budgeting, constructability reviews, value engineering, design coordination, and cost studies. - Cost Analysis:
Maintain and utilize historical cost information to improve estimating accuracy and support conceptual budgeting. - Document Review:
Review plans, specifications, addenda, reports, and other contract documents to identify risks, discrepancies, and potential cost impacts. - Subcontractor Relationships:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and other industry partners. - Project Turnover:
Coordinate with Project Managers and field teams to provide a comprehensive turnover of awarded projects, including estimate assumptions, subcontractor coverage, scope considerations, and identified risks. - Collaboration:
Work closely with operations, business development, project management, and executive leadership throughout the pursuit and award process. - Continuous Improvement:
Assist in maintaining estimating databases, templates, procedures, and historical cost information.
- 5+ years of commercial construction estimating or preconstruction experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, materials, sequencing, and trade scopes.
- Prior Experience as an Estimator for a General Contractor.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty construction documents.
- Experience preparing detailed quantity takeoffs and subcontractor bid comparisons.
