We are seeking an Interior Designer for the Temporary Professional Staffing Services contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs. This role is located at the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (LBVAHCS) and is on-site, 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day. The Interior Designer will be assigned to specific sections within the department, including Capital Development, Projects & Construction, Business Management, and Maintenance & Operations, and will report to the respective Section Supervisor.

• Develop interior design solutions for healthcare and administrative spaces across major projects.
• Prepare detailed AutoCAD drawings, plans, sketches, and visual design presentations.
• Analyze architectural drawings and create FF&E layouts aligned with building codes.
• Interpret and review plans for compliance with VA standards and specifications.
• Produce procurement packages including scopes of work, specifications, budgets, and cost estimates.
• Manage procurement processes, vendor coordination, and delivery and installation schedules.
• Maintain design documentation, resource libraries, and project records for construction projects.
• Oversee installation activities, direct crews, and resolve punch list items.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and manage activation project schedules and communications.
• Assess operations, recommend improvements, and support transition and move‑in planning.

• Authorization to permanently work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Bachelor's Degree or 8–10 years of professional interior design experience.
• Familiarity with Patient Centered Care culture in healthcare.
• Ability to review and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Skilled in free‑form drawing and drawing to scale when on a job site measuring for a project.
• Project Management Certification, Evidenced Based Design Accreditation and Certification and/or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
• Expertise with recommendations for the selection, specification, procurement, and placement of furnishings.
• AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook) are required.
• Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with a variety of contractors, management officials, vendors, Contract Officers and Long Beach staff.
• Certifications such as National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Project & Revit is beneficial but not required.
