Position: Assistant Professor of Child and Family Studies
Effective Date: August 17, 2026 (Fall Semester)
Salary Range: The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary is $74,652 to $158,688 per year; $6,221 to $13,224 per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $91,224 to $99,204 per year; $ $7,602 to $8,267/per month. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Child Development, Family Science, Human Development, or a closely related field. Candidates must have at least one graduate degree in Child Development, Family Science, or a closely related discipline. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2026.

• Demonstrated subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas:

o Interdisciplinary work with children and families (e.g., collaborations across education, healthcare, social work, or legal systems to support child and family well-being)
o Applied child development work with children or adolescents, and their families in educational, clinical, or community-based settings
o Family science and community-based interventions (e.g., family dynamics, stress and coping, community engagement, child and family lifespan development)
o Diversity, global, and cross-cultural perspectives on children and families (e.g., multicultural families, international family studies, global childhoods)
o Research and applied community-based child and family services (e.g., program evaluation, applied research methodologies, community-based partnerships)
o Issues of child and family law or policy (e.g., public policy, legal frameworks, advocacy, or social services impacting children and families)

• Demonstrated potential for effectiveness in teaching at the undergraduate level

• Demonstrated potential for research, scholarly, and creative activities in the field of child development and family science, or closely related field, resulting in publications

• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students

• Interest in interdisciplinary collaborations in research, teaching, or service

• Interest in working with children and/or families in community-based or applied settings
