The Academic Advising Lead, under the general supervision of the Director of the University Honors Program (UHP), utilizes in‑depth knowledge of university requirements and policies to advise diverse undergraduate students in the UHP on their degree and Honors‑specific requirements, university policies, and procedures pertinent to their academic needs. The role provides student‑centered services, manages programmatic and curricular initiatives to strengthen academic success and retention of diverse UHP students, and represents the UHP in collaborative advising with CSULB Academic Colleges’ Advising Teams, UCUA, and Athletics.
Student‑Centered Academic Advising Lead must be able to serve a large population of diverse honors students from across campus.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain large and small‑scale programs, series programs, and creative practices to develop students’ success in completing UHP requirements alongside General Education and graduation requirements.
- Represent the UHP as the Advising Lead for campus‑wide meetings and in collaboration with CSULB academic colleges to promote student success.
- Independently provide advising and support admission of FTFY, current, and transfer students.
- Assist the UHP Director by preparing advising reports as needed; perform daily office tasks including answering phones, responding to emails, and addressing in‑person questions in the office.
- Plan monthly UHP advising events and workshops, often in collaboration with other campus services and organizations; manage the Event Calendar Process, oversee calendar updates, collect sign‑in sheets, create flyers, and delegate Honors credit tracking.

Duration of AppointmentThis is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

CompensationSalary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
- Hiring Rate: $5,540 per month.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,540 – $7,893 per month.
To be eligible for full benefits at CSU, you must be appointed at least half‑time (.50 FTE) and your appointment must last more than six months and one day. Eligible employees have access to a comprehensive benefits package, including:
