RoleSummary
Marketing & Communications Manager – Space Systems. Based onsite at our global headquarters in Long Beach, CA, this role translates complex spacecraft technology into simple, compelling verbal and visual language tailored to a wide and evolving audience. You’ll own product messaging and positioning for Rocket Lab’s space systems business and lead cross-functional collaboration to help the world understand that Rocket Lab is far more than a launch company.
WhatYou’ll Get To Do
- Develop targeted messaging about Rocket Lab’s space systems products and services for investors, customers, government stakeholders, regulators, and internal teams.
- Create compelling materials in support of business development: one-pagers, pitch decks, case studies, website and social content, brochures, and presentations.
- Write stories about our missions, technology and vision for multiple platforms including blog posts, press releases, social media, scripts, and speeches.
- Collaborate with technical and business development teams to ensure accuracy, relevance, and message alignment for maximum impact.
- Lead planning and implementation for new programs and product launches.
- Identify opportunities to feature Rocket Lab wherever our audience is paying attention, including podcasts, newsletters, influencers, You Tubers, and new media platforms.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the market and competitors to create compelling, timely, and differentiated messaging.
- Manage events including key conferences and customer experience events.
- Work with designers, photographers, and videographers to create compelling visual content.
- This role currently has no direct reports but may lead and mentor new team members in time as we grow.
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in product marketing or related roles.
- Exceptional storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible narratives for diverse audiences.
- Proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams (engineering, BD, legal, Gov Ops).
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills with attention to detail and clarity.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends, as needed.
- Ability to work onsite full time in Long Beach, CA with domestic and international travel as needed. Relocation packages are available.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive or tech industries.
- Creator skills: ability to design, shoot, or edit content yourself.
- Security clearance.
- Familiarity with ITAR, EAR and IP protection.
- Keen interest in space.
- Vision: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to focus.
- Regularly sit, use hands and fingers, operate a computer keyboard, and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to commute to buildings.
- Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
Base salary is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on knowledge, education and experience. Base Pay Range (CA Only): $130,000—$170,000 USD. This role may include company equity and a comprehensive benefits package.
