Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Equity Programs and the Guardian Scholars Associate Director, the Guardian Scholars Coordinator delivers comprehensive, coordinated services to both prospective and current Guardian Scholars students. The coordinator provides holistic guidance that includes academic support, personal and social‑emotional coaching, career and post‑graduate planning, and assistance navigating financial aid processes to promote students’ educational progress and persistence.
The role also includes offering essential life‑skills development and community‑building support to strengthen students’ sense of belonging and overall success at CSULB.
The incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of campus life. The incumbent uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Academic Support & Retention Services - Collaborate with the Director, Associate Director, and program staff to develop, implement, and assess signature programs, advising strategies, and student‑success initiatives for Guardian Scholars. Provide holistic academic advising (pre‑major and GE), career exploration support, and internship guidance to enhance student progress and overall educational experiences.
- Outreach, Admissions & Recruitment - Conduct targeted outreach to high schools, community colleges, campus departments, and community agencies to promote the Guardian Scholars program and foster youth support services. Represent the program at recruitment and yield events, including transfer/college fairs, Day at the Beach, SOAR, Week of Welcome, and similar activities
- Co‑Coordinate Guardian Scholars Summer Program & Transitional Programs - Assist with coordinating of the Guardian Scholars Summer Housing Program and transitional support initiatives following established program guidelines. Assist with the development of summer workshops and engagement activities to support learning experience for participants.
1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of AppointmentThis is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

CompensationSalary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

The hiring range for this position is $5,083 - $7,228 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training. - CSU Classification Salary Range:
