Options for Youth (OFY) is a network of free, non‑profit public charter schools offering students a flexible, personalized approach to learning. OFY serves grades 7–12 and helps students who have fallen behind, want to get ahead, or desire a non‑traditional learning environment.

Substitute Teacher (Certificated)

$28.50 – $32.00 per hour, depending on experience.

• Provide high‑quality, subject‑specific instruction and academic support as needed.
• Assume full classroom responsibilities, delivering direct instruction from lesson plans, and be accountable for student work and progress according to the academic calendar.
• Manage student attendance and ensure academic progress is maintained.
• Contact parents and students to communicate progress and support.
• Grade student work, including essays and projects, and provide constructive academic feedback.
• Communicate with the teacher of record upon their return.
• Assist center teaching staff with instructional support, grading, and organization as needed.
• Communicate with supervisors and proactively manage personal schedules to support center needs.

• Degree or subject‑mastery (CSET) in English, Math, and/or Science.
• Ability to make decisions, exercising reasonable independent judgement and discretion with minimal guidance or supervision.
• Possession of a California 30‑day substitute permit, or a CA preliminary or clear single‑subject credential.
