Salary Range

Full‑Time Lecturer B annual salary (12 monthly payments) ranges from $74,652 to $158,688. Anticipated hiring range: $75,000 to $85,008.

Required Qualifications
  • M.A. or M.S. in Education or related field with emphasis on early childhood education, preschool education, or a closely related area.
  • Earned a U.S. public school teaching credential or California Teacher Permit (or higher).
  • Experience as teacher of record in U.S. preschool, transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, or grades 1‑3.
  • Commitment to teaching diverse student populations including Black/African American, Latine/x, Native American/Indigenous, low‑income, first‑generation, and minoritized students.
  • Commitment to working with racially, ethnically, socioeconomically diverse, multilingual, and neurodiverse preschool or elementary students.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or related field with emphasis on early childhood or preschool education; degree or notification of completion by August 1, 2025.
  • At least three years as teacher of record in U.S. preschool, transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, or grades 1‑3, especially with diverse student populations.
  • Experience mentoring preservice teachers in PK‑3 settings.
  • Capacity for classroom‑based research with PK‑3 partnerships or school settings.
  • Potential for leadership (supporting other teachers, professional development, curriculum design).
  • Experience with instructional technologies for teacher education, including online teaching.
  • Experience with accreditation agencies or community partners.
Duties
  • Teach courses in Early Childhood Education, including but not limited to:
  • EDEC 400 Introduction to Early Childhood Education
  • EDEC 410 Social‑Emotional and Cognitive Learning in Early Childhood Education
  • EDEC 420 Cultural and Linguistic Diversity in Early Childhood Education
  • EDEC 422 Developing Family, School, and Community Partnerships
  • EDEC 430 Advocating for Early Intervention with Young Children and their Families
  • EDEC 450 Teaching Early Language and Literacy (Birth‑K)
  • EDEC 526 Infants and Toddlers in ECE programs
  • EDEC 521 Historical and Contemporary Perspectives in Early Childhood
  • EDEC 522 Family/School/Community Partnerships
  • EDEC 525 Early Literacy Development/Instruction/Assessment
  • EDEC 527 Early Childhood Math and Integrated STEM
  • May supervise student‑teacher candidates in preschool or elementary education.
  • Contribute to initiatives addressing equity and opportunity gaps.
  • Participate in program, department, college, and university governance.
  • Maintain a campus office work schedule aligned with department workload, including evening and Saturday classes and varied in‑person/online office hours.
