Duties

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's in nutrition, dietetics or dietetics and food administration OR
  • Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in chemistry, public health or family and consumer studies/home economics OR the equivalent

A bachelor's in nutrition, dietetics, or dietetics and food administration, and certification as a registered dietitian, is an alternative qualification for this discipline.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or related field, plus, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with the Commission on Dietetics Registration
  • Educational and instructional preparation in Food Service Management, Clinical Nutrition, and Community Nutrition.
  • At least two years of recent experience teaching Foods Nutrition and Dietetics to college students, especially at a community college.
  • At least one year of recent experience teaching Food science lab or food production lab, or cooking courses.
  • Knowledge of the Dietetic Service Supervisor, Nutrition Assistant programs, and Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) program.
  • Evidence of working effectively with an Advisory Committee and local health care agencies.
  • Evidence of an ability to address the needs of diverse and frequently underprepared student populations.
  • Evidence of the ability to use various teaching strategies that encourage retention while successfully challenging diverse student populations.
  • Evidence of innovation, scholarship, or leadership in Food-service, Nutrition, and Dietetics teaching.
  • Desire is evidence of an ability to take on leadership roles within the department and the institution as a whole.
  • Evidence of an ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Evidence of an ability to use the Canvas Platform for Online, Hybrid, and in-person teaching.
  • Ability to teach the in-person class at the LAC and TCC campuses.
  • Ability to work with computers and other technologies which are utilized in providing high-quality classroom and lab instruction.
