College Lecturer
The Long Beach Community College District is seeking part‑time faculty to teach on the Liberal Arts campus, Pacific Coast campus, or other teaching locations. Assignment may be day, evening, weekend, online, or off campus and is subject to change as needed. Positions are as‑needed and do not accrue tenure.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Service:
Commitment to serving the needs of students, department, college, and community; collaborate across disciplines; participate in committee and governance activities; contribute to curriculum and program development; work collegially and collaboratively; engage in ongoing professional development. - Teaching:
Create a dynamic learning environment that values instructor‑student interaction; engage and facilitate authentic learning for students of diverse backgrounds; adapt teaching pedagogy to individual student needs; self‑reflect and respond to evidence‑based assessment of student learning; integrate new technologies into the learning process; communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Master’s in Chemistry
- or Bachelor’s in Chemistry or Biochemistry AND Master’s in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Physics, Physics, Molecular Biology or Geochemistry
- or the equivalent qualification
- Recent community college or lower‑division teaching experience
- Expertise in the field of course(s) to be taught
- Long Beach Community College District application – or the equivalent
- Current resume
- All graduate and undergraduate transcripts showing school name, all college coursework, degree title and conferral date (official or unofficial)
- Transcripts from outside the United States must be evaluated by a recognized credential evaluation service
- Applicants who do not meet statewide minimum qualifications must submit a supplemental equivalency application
