Strengthening Youth Resilience (SYR) Program Administrator/Practicum Instructor

Effective Date: September 15, 2025

Salary Range: $85,524 – $182,532 per year;
Anticipated hiring $89,760 – $103,224

Responsibilities
  • Provide practicum instruction to BASW and MSW student interns assigned to the SYR program with Boys & Girls Club of Long Beach.
  • Ensure intern development and progression in alignment with CSC core competencies and school expectations.
  • Provide site‑based supervision, interventions, and consultation at select B&GCLB locations for youth affected by anxiety and depression.
  • Maintain collaborative communication with stakeholders from Long Beach Unified School District, B&GCLB, College of Health and Human Services, and School of Social Work.
  • Oversee administrative aspects of the SYR program, including consulting with practicum instructors, creating budgets, and managing expenses with university teams.
  • Complete regular reports and provide presentations to stakeholders; organize students and instructors for presentations.
  • Schedule interviews, process prospective interns, and complete practicum documentation.
  • Partner with evaluation team to collect pre‑ and post‑test data, secure approvals, and produce year‑end evaluation reports.
Required Qualifications
  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited university.
  • At least two years post‑master experience in social work practice.
  • Commitment to work with children, youth, and families in after‑school programs, community agencies, or schools.
  • Commitment to work successfully with a diverse student population.
  • Organizational leadership and program development capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) active license.
  • Training experience in community‑based social work, school‑based settings, and/or secondary education levels.
  • Potential for teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate college level.
  • Ability to build coalitions, provide consultation, and engage in teamwork with community‑based service providers.
  • Knowledge of community resources supporting families and children in the Greater Long Beach area.

  • Background check (criminal record and telephone reference) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position.
  • Position holder is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
