Job Summary

This position will perform complex student and student organization advisement, leadership training, and major event supervision to maximize opportunities for co‑curricular student involvement and enhance retention of students. The incumbent will develop and implement out‑of‑classroom programs and services that educate CSULB students about ethical leadership, cultural awareness, and positive social change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, advise, and develop student organizations—including program planning, goal setting, timelines, budgeting, fundraising, and grant management.
  • Design and implement educational leadership programs using a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion framework.
  • Collaborate with department members to address student life issues and major SLD programs such as the Student Leadership Summit, Celebration of Leadership, and Make a Difference Day.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Extensive knowledge of university policies, risk management, and student development theory.
• Strong communication, counseling, and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Experience developing and delivering leadership programs with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Ability to analyze data to enhance student engagement and retention.
Collaborative team player who can build partnerships across campus and with external stakeholders.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a related field, plus two years of professional experience in a student services program area.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, student personnel, or related social science.
  • Valid California driver’s license.
  • Experience advising student clubs and organizations in a university setting.
  • Programming skills, preferably in student leadership.
  • Experience problem‑solving across university departments and with external governing bodies.
Physical Summary

Sedentary work involving mainly sitting; walking and standing are minimal; lifting limited to lightweight objects (10 pounds or less).
