Position: Assistant Professor of Translation Studies

Salary Range: The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary is $74,652 to $158,688/year; $6,221 to $13,224/per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $86,000 to $90,000 per year; $7,167 to $7,500/per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). Thesalary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:- Ph.D. in Translation Studies, Applied Linguistics, Comparative Literature, or a closely related field. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2027.
- Demonstrated proficiency in English and at least two of the following Romance languages:
French, Italian, and Spanish, with the ability to teach translation between English and thoselanguages - Formal training and professional experience in translation
- Background or formal training in interpreting
- Experience teaching translation theory and practice at the university level
- Demonstrated expertise in computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, machine translation, and post-editing workflows
- Evidence of scholarly publication and an active research agendain Translation Studies or a related field
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic andfirst-generation students
- Experience training professional translators in academic or industry settings
- Experience supervising graduate research, including MAtheses
- Experience in academic program or curriculum development
- Experience adapting curricula to emerging technologies,professional standards, and global market changes
- Record of international collaboration and established professional networks within the translation and interpretingcommunity
- Experience successfully working with populationsdemographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULBstudent body
- Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Translation Studies, including translation theory and methodology; literarytranslation in English-French, English-Italian, and English-Spanish language pairs; specialized and professional translation; CATtools; machine translation and post-editing; and translatortraining and professional practice. (Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.)
