Salary Range

The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary is $5,507 to $6,042/per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $66,084 to $72,500/per academic year. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

- BA/BS in Recreation Therapy, Recreation, Parks, Tourism, or related discipline.
- MA/MS in Recreation Therapy, Recreation Management, or related discipline Candidates working toward completion of a master’s degree will be considered as long as official notification of completion of the master’s degree can be provided by August 1, 2027 (for Fall semester start)
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in Teaching
- Specialization in general Recreation Management or Recreation Therapy
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in teaching or training excellence at the college or professional level
- At least two years of related professional work experience (Parks and Recreation, Summer Camps, Non-Profit Recreation like YMCA’s or Boys and Girls Clubs)
- Certified Recreation Therapist (RTC: CA, CTRS: National)
- Experience successfully working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body
- Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom
Duties:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Recreation Therapy and Recreation Management. Mode of instruction is primarily in-person but may include online or hybrid courses
- Develop relationships with internal and external partners to further expand student opportunities in Recreation and Leisure Studies
- Participate in service to the Department, College, University, Profession, and Community
