RoleQUALITY INSPECTOR III/SENIOR - AVIONICS – Based out of Rocket Lab's Headquarters in Long Beach, CA
, the Quality Inspector III/Senior - Avionics is responsible for carrying out inspections using prescribed inspection criteria with a high level of attention to detail to detect any aspect that does not meet engineering/production standards. The role requires steering and guiding decisions to bring the quality process to the highest standard, including problem solving and clear communication skills.
- Perform complex electronic and electrical inspections for purchased parts, PCBAs, wire harnesses, electro-mechanical, electrical, electronic components, and assemblies
- Follow and create detailed work instructions for receiving inspection for PCBA’s, harnessing, electro-mechanical components/assemblies, and test reports
- Highlight concerns to the engineering, quality and production teams by thoroughly documenting issues and non-conformances in internal quality monitoring systems and MES/ERP as applicable
- Support preparation of the production area for external audits and perform internal audits, including tracking actions following corrective action requests
- Follow up on calibration tracking and compliance to tool calibration system
- Embed a Built in Quality philosophy, consistently detecting non-conformances and preventing escapes to downstream customers
- 8+ years of experience in quality assurance in an electronics manufacturing environment
- IPC-A-610 Certification with experience in IPC/WHMA-A-620C and/or AC 43.13
- 5+ years of experience in quality assurance in an electronics manufacturing environment
- Experience with IPC J-STD-001 with space addendum (nice to have)
- Very high attention to detail and ability to produce work to a high standard of accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team and autonomously
- Ability to read, understand and follow manufacturing instructions and drawings
- 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday – Thursday
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
- Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing
- Must be physically able to commute to buildings
- Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise
Base pay range (CA only): $26 - $39 USD
