EH&S Technician II​/Senior

Rocket Lab’s Environmental Health & Safety team safeguards our people, facilities, and environment by driving regulatory compliance, proactive risk management, and continuous safety improvement. EHS partners cross-functionally support operational excellence, high-reliability manufacturing, and the safe expansion of Rocket Lab’s production footprint.

Based on site at Rocket Lab Headquarters and Engine Development Center in Long Beach California, the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Technician is responsible for the company’s overall compliance with federal, state and local health, safety and environmental regulations. This includes the management of OSHA health and safety programs, policies, forms and training, and compliance with EPA hazardous waste management and permit reporting requirements.

• Handle Rocket Lab headquarters and the Engine Development Center environmental health and safety operations as primary responsibility
• Inspect work areas and document all responsible activities as required by Local, State and Federal law and internal company practices.
• Assist in the implementation and enforcement of the company’s environmental, health and safety policies throughout all areas.
• Assist EHS Manager by responding to and assessing employee concerns.
• Support in identifying hazards for high-risk activities, assessing the risks, and completing risk assessment reports.
• Support in evaluating new and existing jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine the existence, severity, probability and outcome of hazards.
• Assist with Incident Investigations.
• Assist in the evaluation of equipment, tasks, processes, workstations, office and manufacturing environment to identify EH&S or ergonomic issues.
• Complete necessary tasks to attain certifications necessary to complete job requirements:
• FIT test, training & safety certifications, PPE certifications, etc.
• Responsible for hazardous material and waste spill response, containment and disposal.

• 5+ years of experience in an environmental, health and safety role in any of the following industries: aerospace, automotive, medical device, oil & gas, or a heavily regulated manufacturing facility
• High school diploma or GED
• Experience handling and managing operations of hazardous materials and waste in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• 8+ years of experience in an environmental, health and safety role in any of the following industries: aerospace, automotive, medical device, oil & gas, or a heavily regulated manufacturing facility
• High school diploma or GED
• Experience handling and managing operations of hazardous materials and waste in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• Associates degree or certification within applicable field
• Detail-oriented, follows projects to completion, documents and files OSHA records
• Experience with chemical lab packing
