Job Description

Boeing is seeking a results-driven Flight Simulation Hardware Kitting & Lifecycle Design Support Specialist to assist all Boeing Aircraft Type Simulator Packages, focusing on hardware kitting and lifecycle aspects. This position is expected to be 100% on-site at the Long Beach, CA location.

If you join Boeing Global Services, Training and Simulation Digital Services (T&SDS), you will help coordinate with simulator manufacturers to deliver flight deck hardware based on customer configurations, address warranty and non-conformance issues, monitor deliverable performance, identify hardware requirements with internal teams, order aircraft simulator kit hardware to meet program schedules, develop support materials for program reviews, assist in resolving hardware issues by coordinating with internal functions, and ensure all hardware types are operational to support “Ready for Training” needs.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Acting as the focal point for Training Device Manufacturers (TDM), Airplane Customers, and internal/external training centers for hardware needs.
  • Developing airplane model hardware kits, defining flight deck components to be provided by Boeing to simulator manufacturers to match aircraft design.
  • Interfacing with Supplier Management to manage the order and delivery of new kit part requirements.
  • Addressing hardware lifecycle issues, promptly addressing customer issues, identifying new opportunities, and enabling leadership to focus on bigger issues and initiatives.
  • Warranty claims for hardware after training devices are in service.
  • Non-conformance issues with hardware during simulator manufacturing.
  • Constructing impact reports and managing all part requests from Production, MODs & AOG.
  • Assisting in kitting surge support and assisting hardware focal points as needed.
  • BGS Supply Chain Supplier Management liaison.
  • Inventory management for all kitting hardware.
  • Lower-level device hardware kit development.
  • Coordination between USM, T&SDS & Campuses for hardware management of Boeing’s excess inventory – used and new.
  • Red Label hardware management.
  • Acting as a liaison between Supplier Management, Supply Chain, TDM and Airline.
  • Providing technical support to sustaining programs as required.
  • Providing information to facilitate parts moving through Boeing systems/supply chain.
  • Utilizing Electronic Standardized Process for Engineering Coordination (eSPEC) to create kits for driving demands for PMDB projects.
  • Utilizing Change Lifecycle Management Application to request changes for PMDB project shipments that support BSPs.
  • Utilizing Simulator Tracking and Recording System (STARS) Tableau or obtaining the ability to use it.
  • Supporting ad-hoc needs.
  • This position will take most direction from the Hardware & Kitting Lead.
  • This position does not touch physical hardware in person nor personally repair it.
  • The successful candidate must have strong coordination and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications
  • It is a plus to have knowledge of, or experience using, Boeing Enterprise Shipping System (BESSY) to look up shipments that support Boeing Simulator Projects (BSP).
  • Possess knowledge of using REDARS and Boeing drawing systems.
  • Knowledge in using Project Management Database (PMDB) for operational tracking and loading BSP demands and shipments.
  • Are knowledgeable in using Production ERP Environment to status parts needed to support BSPs.
Typical Education/Experience
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+1 years' related work experience, 7 years' related work experience, etc.).
