BGS is seeking a talented and motivated Mid-Level Electrical Engineer to join our Commercial Modifications Engineering team in Long Beach, California. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the development and maintenance of electrical product details, assembly, and installation designs for a diverse range of commercial aircraft, from the McDonnell Douglas MD series to the state‑of‑the‑art Boeing 777X.

You will leverage your expertise to design and implement electrical solutions that enhance aircraft capabilities and operational efficiency. You will work on projects that involve retrofitting existing aircraft with advanced connectivity systems or the latest interior accommodations, all with the goal of optimizing electrical layouts and ensuring seamless integration of new technologies. Your contributions will directly impact the comfort, performance, and reliability of aircraft, enabling our customers to maintain competitive advantages in the aviation market.

In addition to technical responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to engage with customers, understanding their unique operational challenges and providing tailored solutions that enhance their fleet’s capabilities.

Position Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems, including equipment racks, power panels, cable routing, and antenna configurations
  • Create and maintain detailed designs for cable and wire harness assemblies
  • Work with customers and suppliers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements
  • Document processes, specifications, and procedures that support the design and manufacturing of electrical commodities
  • Review supplier technical data to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting to airlines and modification sites
  • Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team of engineers in an agile environment, utilizing the latest tools and methodologies to deliver innovative solutions
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design efficiency and effectiveness
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non‑US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years of related work experience

  • Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
  • Engineering Drawings & Specs – Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design)
  • Computer Aided Design Tools – Knowledge of CAD/CAM, CATIA, Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics
  • Engineering Judgment – Exercises engineering judgment in developing appropriate decisions considering criteria, implications, and possible consequences, to ensure product design integrity
  • Systems Thinking – Ability to understand the big picture and the inter‑relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another
