Structural & Payload Design Engineer

Location: Long Beach, CA (100% Onsite)

Duration: 12-Month Contract (Possible Extension)

Pay Rate: $60/hr. on W2

Job Summary:

Seeking an Engineering Project Manager to lead multiple C-17 sustainment and Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) projects. The selected candidate will manage the full project lifecycle while collaborating across engineering, product support, finance, scheduling, technical publications, and retrofit teams. This role requires strong technical competency, leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and customer representatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a diverse portfolio of sustainment and NRE projects
• Lead all phases of the project lifecycle: planning, execution, monitoring, and closure
• Develop and manage project schedules and documentation
• Utilize Earned Value Management (EVM) to track performance
• Apply risk management tools to identify risks, issues, and opportunities (RIO)
• Present project status, performance metrics, and recommendations to management and customers
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
• Ensure projects are delivered within scope, schedule, and cost targets

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or related technical field
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• 2+ years presenting project status and recommendations to management/customers
• 2+ years collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Experience collecting data, developing metrics, and performing trend analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of related project management experience
• PMP Certification
• Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
