Senior Utility Engineer Responsibilities
- Provide project engineering and utility coordination with a focus on transportation projects and public transportation clients throughout the Southern California Region.
- Develop utility basemaps, coordinate with utility owners and agencies, develop relocation strategies, assist in preparation of cost estimates, preparation of engineering plans and specification for utility relocations.
- Work independently as well as assist groups of medium to large teams of professionals and technicians dependent on project/task.
- Be involved in highway and railroad utility design and plans production for utility owners and Municipal clients.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- California PE certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to read and understand civil transportation engineering design plans.
- Ability to read and understand utility installation and adjustment plans.
- Ability to prepare pipeline drawings: plan view, pipeline profiles, cross sections, and utility details.
- Experience delivering Caltrans drainage projects.
- Preference given to local candidates.
- Bachelor's degree.
- A minimum of 10 years experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design.
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example:
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. - Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams.
- Project management skills desirable.
- Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans.
- Must have coordinated survey, grading, drainage and utilities and layout of various site items is a plus.

The expected compensation range for this position is $135,000 - $192,000 and depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full‑time regular positions. Temporary and part‑time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
