Overview

Experienced Structure & Payload Systems Design Engineer for Boeing Global Services (BGS) Post-Production Modifications Support, Long Beach, California. Supports modification projects for Product Lines:
Interiors, Connectivity/VIP, Avionics, Airplane Performance and Systems (AP&S), and Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF). The candidate will support all models from MD heritage to the latest Boeing 777X, applying advanced knowledge of Boeing design and engineering principles to develop interim or final engineering solutions for production, technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer. The role includes failure analysis, root-cause troubleshooting, and providing documentation and dispositions for Installation Deviation Records (IDRs) in support of customer on-site modifications.

The candidate will ensure supplier and build partner compliance with Boeing standards and represent the engineering community in the post-production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide home support as liaison or design engineer for ongoing modifications for BGS Mods Product Lines:
    Interiors, Connectivity/VIP, Avionics/AP&S, and BCF.
  • Provide on-site modification support as liaison or design engineer when core support is unavailable.
  • Write, coordinate, and disposition IDRs (Installation Deviation Records) for airplane modifications.
  • Review and respond to service requests (SR) from airline customers in the Modifications Support queue of Boeing Communication System (BCS).
  • Apply Boeing design principles to assess and resolve product/process issues through the product lifecycle.
  • Research technical, operational, and quality issues and design interim and final engineering solutions.
  • Identify, document, and analyze reported problems and communicate deviations that could impact design intent and safety; recommend and manage resolutions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop dispositions for design nonconformances.
  • Develop and implement product/process improvements; supports Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participates in design reviews.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other internal and external engineering teams; represent the engineering community in the build through post-production environment.
Qualifications
  • Basic Qualifications (Required): Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace/Aeronautical, or Materials Science) and 5+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to meet export control requirements and status as a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MRB active or previous certification; LAE active or previous certification.
  • Multidisciplinary engineering background.
  • Experience with Model Based Definition, CATIA, ENOVIA, and PDM.
  • Ability to lead, work independently, and in a team environment.
  • Experience providing product definitions and technical support to groups, suppliers, and external customers across the product lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of the aircraft certification process.

Pay and Benefits
  • Summary pay range: $111,350 - $150,650.
  • Includes competitive base pay, variable compensation opportunities, and a range of benefits as part of the Total Rewards package.
